My dar Sir!

I am requested by the Council to inform you that at our own second concert of the society, on the 23 Feby, we had the honour of performing your magnificent Symphony “Die Weihe der Töne,” and it gives me much pleasure to state that rarely has a great work achieved so decided a success. The applause of the audience was enthusiastic & heartfelt. The encomiums of the Press have been universal.2 We esteem ourselves highly fortunate in having been the medium of presenting to the Members of the Musical Society of London & to the Musical public of London generally so great a work, in a manner, we believe, worthy of the genius of the composer. The Audience numbered 1200 persons.
We have heard with profound regret that you have lately met with an accident: but we pray that you will soon recover from its effects, & that your valuable life may be shared by your friends and admirers for many years

I am My dear Sir
be truly yours
Charles Salaman
Hon. Sec.
