I take the liberty of submitting for your consideration the accompanying Statement and Queries
From these you will observe that a question of importance is at present in dependence before the Supreme Court of Scotland relative to the due provision to be made for the illustration by means of apparatus instruments or otherwise, of the lecture of the Professor of the Theory of Music in the University of Edinburgh; in which the Court have remitted to me the to report on the subject
I am anxious to be aided in the preparation of this report, by the information of persons of musical science and practical experience, and would therefore request that you will let me know whether you can finish answers to my Queries sent; and whether you would be disposed to meet the parties and myself in London at such time as may be adjusted to suit your convenience.
I may add that the time at present contemplated would probably be during the month of April next
