My dear Madam
I lose no time in returning the Ticket you were so kind as to send me. I do so, I assure you, most reluctantly, but I find the absolute necessity of rest, in order to enable my leg to regain its fromer strength.
My children are all absent from Town.
I am happy to know that you and Spohr enjoyed the evening at the College.2 I need not assure you how much I was gratified to see my dear and honoured Friend again at my table, to hear his charming compositions & the exquisit tone and expression of his playing – and above all, to see him in such excellent health.
Let me not upine at being deprived of the pleasure I had hoped for tonight, but rather let me be thankful for the pleasure I have enjoyed.
With kindest regards to my dear friend
I am Dear Madam
Your most truly
Edw. Taylor
