Dear Doctor Spohr.

your letter of April 10(???) remained solely unanswered on account of my being unable to give you the information you ask to about the programme of the 5^th & 6^th concerts.
At present only three works are advertised to be performed under your direction viz at the 5^th Concert Beethovens Choral Symphony and at the 6^th concert your own double Symphony¹ & Beethovens Mess in D.
With regards to the Programme of the 5^th Concert as the Society can only perform one Symphony at each concert no other besides the 9^th of Beethoven can be performed at the 5^th Concert; it will be necessary therefore to fill up the Programme with overtures & vocal music; will you oblige the Director by saying what overtures & vocal music you would like performed at this concert.
The date of the 5^th concert is fixed to june 29. in accordance with your request, instead of june 23. as at just proposed
Should you at the present time see any chance of your being able & be in London for the concert to take place on june 23. it will be much more advantageous & the Society that it should take place on that date.
