My dear Madam
I have asked a few singing friends to join us at Gresham College tomorrow evening, that we may have some Glees.2 You know what a treat it would be to them & me to have Spohr and you play: but I am scrupulous of asking him; as, perhaps, he would rather not.
You, perhaps, know whether it would be agreable to him. If you think he would rather not play, pray do not mention my wish. Believe me
