My Dear Sir:
I have a great desire to become a pupil of yours in Harmony Fuge and Composition, as I am confident you can learn me more in the Art than any other man in Europe, I write, Sir, to inquire if I can obtain instruction from you long enough to go through a thoroug1 course: If so when you would be ready to receive me, as it is some distance from this place to your residence I would not like to come without beeing sure of Studying with you. You will excuse the liberty I take in writing you in English; as I am an American I am not competent at yet to adress you in German and as I am quite sure you understand the English Language you will understand this without difficulty. I you will condecent to answer you would confer a great favour an me.
