118 Pall Mall – London
July 8th 1848 –

Sir,

I am desired by the Directiors of the Philharmonic society to express to you great gratification they feel at learning that your new symphony is completed. They have been waiting its arrival with much anxiety, and from the long period which has elapse since the receipt of your letter to Mr. Blagrove1 announcimg its departure they are led to fear some accident has happened to it in its progress to England – They have made every enquiry on this side of the water, – they have therefore considered it advisable that I should write to you on the subject in order that further inquiries may be made with as little delay as possible –
I have the honor to be

Sir,
Your Obed. Servn
