Dr Spohr

July 8th 1848

Sir, I am desired by the Directors of the Philharmonic Society to express to you the gratification they feel in learning that your new Symphony is completed.
They have been waiting its arrival with much anxiety, and from the long period which had elasted since the receipt of your letter to Mr Blagrove1 announcing its departure, they are led to fear some accident has happened to it in its progress to England - They have made every enquiry on this side of the water, but can learn nothings of it – They have therefore considered it advisable that I should write to you on the subject in order that further enquiries may be made with as little delay as possible -
I have the honor to be, Sir,
Your Obed. Serv. Wbudd Secretary.
