Louis Spohr Esq.
care of Edward Taylor Esq.
Norwich1

159 New Bond Street,
London 17 Sept 1839.

Sir,

Though I have not the pleasure of being in any way known to you, I well get hope that the liberty I am now taking will be exused, when I explane my motives in thus addressing you. –
My brother in law a young man of about twenty years of age, has a taste for music, but his father (the Revd Francis Vickery late of Covent Garden & I think perhaps known to Edward Taylor) is not in a condition to pay the expense of a good master, I think I am; & I should ful greatly obliged by your informing me, if you would take such a pupil for one or two years? as I think he should by that time be able to get his own living, & at what terms? perhaps you would also have the kindness to inform me, that the cost of maintaining a young man (with proper economy) may be reckoned at per annum in Cassell2? & if I could have an interview with you in London, to enable you to judge if there be a reasonable prospect of this young man’s succuss in this profession

I am
Sir,
With the greatest respect,
Your obedient servant,
Wm Wilson.

Louis Spohr Esquire.
