My Dear Sir

It seems a most interpitable act that I should not be in my house to receive & bid you welcome: but you will know, I hope admit the narow of my absence. The advance duties which lie before me of conducting a Festival consisting of so many distinct performances, will require much vigilant attention & preparations on the spot.^. My anxiety that all the performances should not disappoint the public estimation, must plead my excuse. Will you allow me to suggest that you should leave London on Wednesday night? You will then arrive at Norwich on Thursday morning, and we shall have the advantage of any suggestions you may think fit to make in 12 constructions(?) an arrangement of our Orchestra.
I have taken care to engage a Drummer¹ whom I hope you will find competent to his part(???).
My friend Hobbes – (the Apostle John) ist any anxious to go throu’ his part with you, if you can spare him the time while you are in London.²
I beg to present my best Compliments to Mrs. Spohr & also to Mrs. von Malsburg & anticipating a happy meeting at Norwich,
